Ahh! You’ve just finished your novel and you don’t know what to do with it next!
A crash course in everything you need to know about the publishing process, from what to do with your completed first draft, to what goes into a query, to how to approach publishers and agents. There are many different roads you can take. The right process for you and your novel will depend on your personal aims. I can answer all your burning questions you’ve always wanted to ask about the publishing industry, but didn’t know where to start!

The Pitch
Market Evaluation
Get to know where your novel fits on the shelves! This evaluation assesses where your novel best fits in the publishing market in terms of age category, genre, subgenre, and potential comp titles. This gives you the pieces you need to write your query letter.
Please note, my expertise is in the sci-fi/fantasy, horror, and historical fiction markets. I’m less knowledgeable in contemporary fiction and romance, and would therefore require more time to spend on market research if your novel falls into these categories.
Price: $60.00/hour
Query
This is where things start getting interesting! A constructive review of your query letter (blurb and author bio). This is strictly for fiction queries, as nonfiction involves a different pitch process I’m less familiar with. As with the Market Evaluation, if you have a YA sci-fi/fantasy novel, I can help you identify comp titles and your subgenre, as well as put a unique spin on any cliche or overused plot devices.
Price: $25.00(CAD)
Synopsis
Hold on to your hats! This is the part every intrepid author dreads. A breakdown of your synopsis, 5 pages at most, with the aim to cut it down to a single page while still addressing the most key themes, character arcs, and plot points of your novel.
Price: $30.00 for 5 pages max. An extra $5 for any extra pages thereafter
Sample Chapter
Down to the good stuff! A review of your sample manuscript pages. This is typically your first chapter, or first 15 pages, although agents and publishers will request sample pages according to their individual submission guidelines, so the length of these will vary. This can be anywhere between the first 10 and 50 pages single spaced. Please see Edits by Chapter below if you are looking for an in depth line edit.
Price: $40.00 for the first 15 pages, an extra $5 for every 10 pages thereafter.
Submission Package
The whole shebang! Includes query (1 page max), synopsis (5 pages max), and sample chapter (15 pages max).
